Summary 15-19 August

Not a bad week at all for Connex. The 07:14 was much more reliable this week and most evenings the 17:38 was pretty good. We had the delayed 17:49 with no explanation, but even that wasn't too bad.

The better performance this week has pulled the really on time percentage up a notch to 59%, the somewhat late stands at 26%, while the very late or cancelled drops to 15%. While the stats still don't look all that flash for Connex, there are obvious signs that things are getting better. You just have to compare this week with the first week I recorded the times back in April.

Although I'm more than happy to commend Connex for the recent improvements, I can't do so without a couple of negative comments - after all I am the Connex Whinger! Their continued failure to keep passengers informed still rankles, surely this is such an easy thing to fix, isn't it? And although they have improved, we're coming off a very low base and there's still a way to go.

Fri 19 August - Early...!

I guess being ahead of schedule still warrants a green?

And it's green yet again for the 17:38 going home. This caps off a pretty good week for Connex, with no reds at all.

Thu 18 August - Still good...

Only a minute or two late this morning, so green again for the 07:14.

And green for the 17:38 too. We like days like this!

Wed 17 August - More of the same...

They may be cancelling trains all around, but for the third day in a row the 07:14 is on time and no waiting just outside the station (seems I'm not allowed to call the area with lots of lines the yards any more!).

Where's the 17:49? Oh there it is rolling in late with no apology. Get to Ripponlea about five minutes late so of course it's pretty crowded.

Tue 16 August - On time again...

Is it too soon to ask whether the recent early morning delays are behind us? Again, we're on time with no waiting in the yards.

Looks like a couple of other cancellations this morning though. Which reminds me that I forgot to comment on yesterday's little sequence...

Hands up those who think they just delayed a train by twenty minutes!

The 17:38 pulls up a few minutes before departure time, but somehow leaves a bit late. With a slow run out of Flinders Street and a couple of slow stops we manage to lose three minutes by the time we hit Ripponlea. Oh well.

Mon 15 August - 07:34 in the lift...

If I'm in the lift at 07:34 that must mean the train was on time today and that we didn't stop in the yards.

And it's green for the homeward journey on the 17:38 too.
