About Me
- Name: Connex Whinger
- Location: Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
An extract from my first post best sums up what this is all about.
"Perception is reality" was one of the many glib phrases my ex-boss used to regularly use. Well my reality is that I have never had a full week of the train that I want to catch running on time. Let me rephrase that somewhat inelegant sentence - I don't believe that of the ten scheduled trains that I would wish to catch in any given week, all ten have ever run as scheduled. Ever. In over four years of commuting on the Sandringham line, my perception is that at least one train per week is either delayed or cancelled.
That's probably a pretty bold call, so to turn my perception into reality, I plan to keep a diary for a while and we'll see how often Connex can deliver me a full week of reliable services. Yes, I know that's a little self-centred, but isn't that the whole point of blogging?

Sandy fun today. Truck hits overhead at Brighton Beach at 10:30am. Buses from Elsternwick to Sandringham. Disruption planned until 8pm.
More reports later.
Frankston fun all week. I catch my first planned train this morning - Wednesday. Previous 4 have all been cancelled. On the 30+ degree afternoon (Monday) Connex cancels a near peak time train then follows it up with on old train with no air con. Twice the people, stinking hot. Yesterday they cancel a peak hour morning train and the next one is so packed that some poor lady passes out as we hit Flagstaff.
One of the worst weeks yet.
Merry Christmas Bruce Hughes - enjoy the company car mate.

Hurstbridge trains delayed 30-40 minutes in the morning peak on Thu 15th due to a signal fault. Bob Annells, Chairmen of Connex, is on radio trying to talk up the latest atrocious 'service' levels.
why is it that every time i travel on a hot day i get one of the 1970's trains that look like they would be suitable for Indian railway. does this happen to lots of people, or is it just me?
